The Macedonian Journal of Anaesthesia publishes the following categories of contributions.
Scientific Articles
These manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review:
• Original Articles – reports of basic or applied scientific research.
• Review Articles – comprehensive analyses of existing scientific literature on topics relevant to anaesthesia, reanimation, intensive care medicine, and related fields.
• Case Reports – descriptions of single rare clinical cases, unusual complications, or innovative diagnostic or therapeutic approaches.
• Case Series – reports describing a series of patients with similar clinical conditions, interventions, outcomes, or clinical observations that provide insights into emerging clinical patterns and clinical experience.
• Professional Perspectives – analytical, educational, or opinion-based articles addressing clinical practice, professional experience, or current challenges in anaesthesia, intensive care medicine, and related fields.
Professional and Clinical Contributions
These contributions are reviewed by the Editorial Board and do not undergo external peer review:
• Therapeutic and Technological Innovations – descriptions of new techniques, procedures, technologies, or therapeutic approaches relevant to anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.
• Discussions and Critiques – analytical or opinion-based articles discussing controversial issues or current developments in the field.
• Surveys – reports of professional surveys or questionnaires related to clinical practice or professional issues.
Correspondence
• Letters to the Editor – brief scientific comments, discussions, critiques, or observations related to articles published in the Journal or relevant topics in the field. These submissions are reviewed by the Editorial Board.
Professional and Informational Content
The following content is not peer-reviewed and is published at the discretion of the Editorial Board:
• Impressions from Meetings / Meeting Reports – summaries of scientific congresses, conferences, or professional meetings.
• Information on International Conferences – announcements or reports related to professional events.
• Reviews of New Books or Educational Materials – critical assessments of recently published books or educational resources relevant to anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.
• News and Announcements – information about professional activities, society news, awards, educational events, and other updates in the field.
